Mediation

Our approach to mediation focuses on achieving a genuine and lasting resolution for all parties.

Mediation is a prompt, easily accessible and cost effective method of resolving issues. Other advantages of mediation include the ability to involve all relevant parties, confidentiality, and flexibility in that each mediation process can be designed to meet the needs of a specific situation.

When we work in an informal situation, such as a family or work team context, we discuss and agree on the mediation process with those involved.

When we mediate in a more formal context we work in accordance with the Summary of the Mediation Process (PDF 52kb).
Download the sample Agreement to Mediate (PDF 64kb).

Examples of the type of cases we mediate are:

  • Commercial and Contract
  • Partnerships
  • Environmental / Resource Management, including resource consent / compliance
  • Education, including staff, parents, Boards of Trustees
  • Employment, including complaints / personal grievances, group / team issues within organisations and conflict between individuals in the workplace, in particular senior management
  • Family, including Relationship Property / Day to day care of, and contact with, children / Wills and intestacy
  • Neighbourhood disputes
  • Problem solving with communities in conflict
